New version of the BackupBob desktop software for Mac

We are pleased to announce a new version of our Mac desktop software. This is the software that runs on your Mac, backs up your files, and powers your BobDrive Sync drive.

The new version (v1.2.09) introduces a whole host of improvements, including:

  • Even less impact on your Mac. The new version is even lighter, more efficient and faster than it was before, so you won’t even notice that it’s running.
  • Improved look and feel. The latest software incorporates the newest BackupBob branding and has a number of improvements to user experience.
  • Lion support. BackupBob now supports Mac OS X Lion – the groundbreaking new operating system that Apple is rolling out in August.
  • 64-bit support. We now support 64-bit Macs too, so you can take full advantage of that extra 32-bits of goodness.
  • Bug fixes. This release fixes a number of small bugs and issues that customers have reported with the previous release – including an issue which was causing BackupBob to use too much memory on some Macs.

BackupBob will be rolling out the update to all of our customers. If you have the Mac software installed then you will be automatically prompted to upgrade when the new version is available – just follow the on-screen instructions to install it. It’s a very simple process and will only take a few minutes.

If you haven’t yet tried the Mac software – or if you just can’t wait to get your hands on the new version – then you can download it from your BackupBob web portal. Just log in to your BackupBob account and click on the Software Download links. Simply unzip the installer and run it to install the Mac client on a new Mac, or to upgrade an existing installation.

If you have any questions about the latest Mac software or any other part of the BackupBob service then please get in touch! Our support team will be delighted to help and will get back to you in 24 hours – just email support@backupbob.com.
